IPL Photofacial

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), also known as Photofacial or Photo Rejuvenation, is a non-invasive way to enhance the tone and texture of your skin. An innovative IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology allows the provider to gently and effectively eliminate discolorations, birthmarks, sunspots, freckles, rosacea, broken capillaries, and unwanted blood vessels. Compared to laser treatment (which focuses on just one wavelength of light), IPL releases light of many different wavelengths, like a photo flash.

Why IPL or Photo Rejuvenation?

A fast, yet gentle Photofacial treatment that visibly improves:

  • Discoloration
  • Pigmentation
  • Birthmarks
  • Age and Sunspots
  • Freckles
  • Rosacea
  • Broken Capillaries
  • Skin Appearance
  • Collagen and Elastic Fiber Production
  • Unwanted Blood Vessels

How Does It Work?

The use of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology enables the treatment of vascular imperfections and pigmentation while simultaneously enhancing the skin’s overall appearance. Stellar M22 ™ IPL with Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT ™) allows providers to tailor the treatment based on skin type and preferred outcomes while maintaining the highest safety and effectiveness possible.

Light pulses enter the tissue and generate heat, allowing the skin defect to be controlled and targeted precisely. A natural process subsequently eliminates the treated tissue. At the same time, elastic fiber and collagen stimulation occur, leading to an immediate and noticeable improvement in skin tone and texture.

The Treatment

  • Before the treatment, a topical numbing cream and/or air cooling is used.
  • A handheld device may be used to deliver light therapy.
  • Patients may feel a prickling sensation; however, the numbing cream applied 30 minutes before treatment usually reduces or eliminate any discomfort.
  • Depending on the treatment plan, the session running time maybe 15-30 minutes on average.
  • The treatment is delicate and gentle on the skin (NOT painful).

When Will I See Results?

Over a series of appointments, the treatment works with the skin to eradicate imperfections while stimulating collagen and elastic fiber synthesis. With only a few sessions, it is possible to get rid of certain skin issues, such as superficial pigmentation and age/sunspots. However, 2-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart are usually required to get optimum results for most skin issues.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

According to your preferred settings, you may notice some redness immediately after the treatment. The redness will normally subside within a few hours after the session. In most cases, patients may apply makeup or resume everyday activities right after the treatment. However, it is strongly suggested that you avoid direct sunlight following the sessions and take sun protection seriously.

Is It Right For Me?

Treatments with Stellar M22™ are not suited for everyone and may be associated with certain drawbacks. Individuals with viral infections, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory issues, or skin cancer SHOULD stay away from IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or Photo Rejuvenation. Before deciding on this treatment, check with a qualified provider and discuss the possible side effects, including redness, scarring, swelling, or a change in pigmentation.
