A full skin rejuvenation solution, Photofractional™ addresses various skin issues in a single session, including sun spots, age spots, broken capillaries, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, etc. The procedure may be conducted practically anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, hands, and even the belly. The dynamic combination of IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) with ResurFX™ (Non-Ablative Laser Resurfacing) enhances skin texture and tone.
Why Photofractional?
An optimally tailored treatment addresses:
- Early Signs of Aging
- Hyperpigmentation
- Age/Sun Spots
- Acne and Surgical scars
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Enlarged pore size and dull skin texture
How Does It Work?
IPL™ uses wavelengths of light drawn to the pigment and superficial blood vessels in the skin, resulting in skin rejuvenation. Dark spots, UV damage, and damaged capillaries all absorb the laser’s energy, making it less effective. Consequently, pigmentation gradually fades away while the damaged blood vessels seal down, resulting in a cleaner, more even, and noticeably brighter skin.
Secondly, ResurFX™ creates a grid of small thermal injuries on the skin’s surface using a fractionated laser beam. However, your provider can modify the depth of the treatment to address typical issues such as enlarged pores, stretch marks, and acne scars. With ongoing sessions, ResurFX™ increases the stimulation of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layers of your skin, resulting in firmer, smoother, and tighter skin.
The Treatment
- Before the treatment, a topical numbing cream and/or air cooling is used.
- Clients may feel a prickling sensation but this is usually reduced by applying a numbing cream 30 minutes before treatment.
- Depending on the treatment plan, the session running time is around 60 minutes on average.
- You will feel sustained warm sensation all throughout the procedure.
- The treatment is delicate and gentle on the skin (NOT painful).
When Will I See Results?
You will see improvement after one session, but it is necessary to do 3-4 sessions on a monthly interval for optimum results, especially when treating any form of scars, stretch marks and deep wrinkles. The therapy works with the skin to stimulate deep collagen renewal.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
Depending on your specific treatment settings, you may notice some redness or swelling immediately after treatment. The swelling will subside within few hours, and the redness may fade away within 24 hours, but it could last for a couple of days, depending on your sensitivity. The majority of clients can return to their normal routines the very next day. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight for a few weeks after the treatment and using sun protection all the time.
Is It Right For Me?
Photofractional is not suited for everyone. Individuals with viral infections, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory issues, or skin cancer SHOULD stay away from IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or Photo Rejuvenation. Before deciding on this treatment, check with your doctor and discuss the possible side effects, including redness, scarring, swelling, or a change in pigmentation.
